I had the pleasure of cheering with Danielle in college on ECU’s Co-ed Cheerleading Team. I was very honored when she reached out to me for assistance with workouts + nutrition eight weeks prior to a very important audition. Though she has always been active, consistent strength training workouts were a new addition to Danielle’s workout regimen. We worked together to customize her 8-Week Workout Program to ensure it was suitable for the workout equipment she had available to her at home, her workout goals, and her busy schedule. Danielle was very committed to completing each of her (3) workouts each week, as evidenced by her tremendous growth/improved strength – she went from being able to complete 5 standard push-ups (finishing her sets with modified, kneeling push-ups), to completing 3 sets of 10!

On the meal side of things, our primary areas of focus were a) increasing Danielle’s protein intake b) increasing water intake and c) decreasing consumption of fast food. Danielle worked hard at consuming 3 meals + 2 snacks daily, ensuring each was rich in protein and complete with either a complex carb source or fruit/veggies. We made a new goal each week for increasing water intake, gradually working up to over 100 oz/day. The largest part of Danielle’s dietary improvements may have been seen in her ability to plan ahead. She often works 12+ hour cheerleading competitions, during which healthy food options are not always provided. To avoid being stuck eating chicken fingers and French fries, Danielle became increasingly skilled at packing nutritious snack + lunch options – working within the confines of each facility and event (i.e., availability of fridge/microwave, timing of breaks, ability to sit down and eat vs. eat on the run, etc.). Such planning skills allowed Danielle to eat more of her meals at home. Even if she hadn’t planned a specific meal for dinner, she became increasingly confident in her ability to pull together a nutritious meal on the fly. She grew increasingly aware of her body’s nutrient needs (balance of carbs/protein/fat and what works best for her), and was able to make informed decisions accordingly. Over the course of her 8-week meal plan, Danielle came to accept that not one of us is perfect when it comes to diet. Her ability to let imperfect snacks/meals/dietary decisions go and to move forward with a renewed mindset to choose healthy foods improved dramatically; it was very rewarding to see!

I could not have been happier hearing from Danielle that she is the most confident in her body that she has ever been. What a REWARDING feeling to be comfortable in your own skin!! I look forward to helping others reach this same point of satisfaction and pride!
